Really tough question! There are lots of places I’d still like to visit, but who knows whether I’d like to live there or not. Of the places I have visited for any length of time, my favourites have been:
-The Canary Islands, where I lived for a year. I loved the weather, sunny all the time but never too hot, plus because they are islands you can always go swimming!
-Sydney in Australia. Great weather again, and everybody was just so friendly!
I think I would probably keep doing the same research. It’s what I’m really interested in, if it wasn’t I’d have already changed to something else by now!
I would really like to live in San Francisco or the bay area, in California. It’s a really great place, the weather is absolutely amazing, there is the ocean and lots of outdoors stuff to do, people are really laid-back and relax, but at the same time positive, dynamical, and enthusiastic. The city is really beautiful and they have amazing sunsets!
I would also like to go back to live in Montreal eventually, because it’s a really fun city to live in, and I have a strong connection with the culture and the people there (it’s really close to where I grew up).
Science-wise, I wouldn’t change what I do at all! I’m absolutely doing the stuff I’m passionated about, and asking the questions I want to find answers to. Otherwise I wouldn’t have the energy to so this everyday!
Good question although I’m already staying in the place where I most want to stay – Edinburgh! However, here are a few other places that I have been that are really great and would have the option of continuing to do science:
1. Geneva, Switzerland (OK, I used to live here – great access to the mountains!)
2. Melbourne, Australia.
3. San Francisco, USA.
4. Madrid, Spain.
5. New York, USA.
